1st Grade Supply List 2024-25 School Year |

Dear Parents,
Welcome to another exciting school year! The first-grade teachers are very excited about meeting all your children.
Please send the following supplies on the first day of school, labeled with your child's name on the notebooks, folders, and pencil box.
One school bag (no wheels or handles). Inside the school bag, please put the following supplies:
• headphones with microphone (for use with iPad)
• 5 wide ruled marble notebooks (no spiral)
• 7 plastic folders with bottom pockets in the following colors: red, yellow, green, blue,
orange, purple and one of your choice.
• 2 boxes of Crayola crayons (no more than 24 crayons)
• 1 box of Crayola thin markers (8 or 12 pack)
• 1 box of Crayola colored pencils
• 1 plastic square pencil box (to fit crayons, markers, and 1 glue stick)
• 1 pack of black thin dry erase markers
• 2 pink erasers
• pencil sharpener (to be kept at home)
• 4 big glue sticks
• 4 boxes of sharpened Ticonderoga #2 pencils.
• 1 pairs of blunt Fiskars scissors (without the package)
• Multipurpose copy paper
• **Please put the crayons, markers, and 1 glue stick in the plastic square pencil box.**
• Please send the following supplies in a shopping bag on the second day of school:
● 1 box of tissues
● 1 roll of paper towels
● 2 liquid hand soaps and 1 hand sanitizer
● 1 Clorox wipes
● 1 package of Huggies or Pampers baby wipes
● 1 box of gallon size Ziploc bags (no Slider bags please)
Please note these supplies are intended for class use. Please have additional supplies
available at home for use completing homework.

To get the day started right please make sure that your child gets enough sleep, eats a good breakfast every day, and comes to school on time, prepared for the day, with their homework.

At this point in the year, to meet grade level standards, your child should be able to:
English Language Arts
Reading
- Read at an F/G level for 10 – 15 minutes.
- Read silently and independently (on their own).
- Talk about the book they have read by telling what happened in the beginning, middle, and end.
- Answer text-based questions – who, what, when, where, why and how.
- Make predictions (guess) about what will happen in the book, before and during reading.
- Identify all letters of the alphabet and produce their sounds.
- Identify all short vowel sounds in reading and writing.
- Be able to use beginning and ending sounds to read and write words.
- Recognize grade level appropriate sight words.
- Write a 3-page true story about a moment in their life (a moment is not a full day).
- Begin each sentence with a capital letter and end with proper punctuation.
- Put spaces between each word.
- Match their words to the picture on the page.
- Read and write sight words that have been introduced in class.
- Show an understanding of mathematical concepts in addition and subtraction.
- Using a number line
- Fewer than, more than
- Turnaround facts (5+3=8 is the same as 3+5=8) – reversing addends
- Add and subtract up to 20 using a variety of strategies
- Using manipulatives
- Count on and count back
- Know the vocabulary used for addition and subtraction.
- Write their first and last name.
- Recognize and name their basic emotions.
- Raise their hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
- Keep their hands and feet to themselves.
- Copy homework in a timely manner.
- Follow all classroom routines/directions.
- Zip their jackets and tie their shoes.
