- Students will read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension on level R/S.
- Students will read and comprehend grade level texts independently across a variety or genres (fiction and non-fiction).
- Students must read every night for 30 minutes without interruption to increase reading stamina, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension.
- Students must be able to demonstrate answering short response and extended response comprehension questions using R.A.P method (R – Restate, A – Answer, P – Prove with 2 details).
- Students must be able to write an informational persuasive essay following the Teachers College writing process.
- Students must be able to support reading responses by using text evidence adhering to New York State 2 and 4 point response rubrics.
- Students must demonstrate grade-appropriate level grammar mechanics and spelling using the conventions rubric.
Math
- Students must be able demonstrate an understanding of mathematical concepts.
- Students must be able to divide by 1-digit numbers.
- Students must be able to identify factors and multiples.
- Students must be able to find equivalent fractions by multiplying and dividing.

- Students must be able to analyze and interpret a variety of non-fiction texts about the Native American culture.
Academic and Personal Behaviors
- Students must be able to copy homework assignments within five minutes.
- Students must be able to bring home all books and notes necessary to complete assignments.
- Students must be able to keep their desks, folders, and notebooks organized.
- Students must persist through challenges to complete a task by trying different strategies.
